Calendar UEFA
The dramatic events of Istanbul may live long in the memory but already attention is turning towards next year's final in Paris, with the draw for the first and second qualifying rounds of the 2005/06 UEFA Champions League scheduled for 24 June.
Former winners
UEFA's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland provides the setting for those draws before former champions such as AFC Ajax, FC Internazionale Milano and Manchester United FC enter the fray for the 29 July draw for the third and final qualifying round in Monaco. The winners of those two-legged ties will join the 16 automatic qualifiers in the group stage, scheduled to start on 13/14 September and conclude on 06/07 December. A place at the Stade de France, on 17 May, will be every team's aim.
Home victory?
Like the French capital, the Dutch city of Eindhoven has the honour of staging a showpiece next year, with the UEFA Cup final due to take place on 10 May. The last time a side from the Netherlands hosted such a fixture, Feyenoord defeated BV Borussia Dortmund in a thriller in 2002. Like for the Champions League, the first qualifying round draw is held on 24 June with the matches kicking off on 14 July.
